Lose More Fat Without Changing Your Diet

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 7:10 pm

By Mike Roussell

Strategies on how to lose fat normally centers on specific dietary approaches. However, there are many factors aside from controlling how many grams of fat you consume each day that can help accelerate your fat loss. In this article we will look at two different nutrition research studies that reveal key strategies for effective and permanent weight loss.

Weight Gaining Behavior - A 2004 study published by Dr. David Levitsky examined the eating behaviors of college freshman at Cornell University. He found that the students whom gained the most weight had 3 common characteristics:

1. “All You Can Eat” Dining

2. Snacking On High Fat Junk Foods

3. Increased Frequency of Snacking on Junk Foods

The problem here is that humans don’t snack well. We don’t regulate our caloric intake over time such that if we eat an extra 300 calories as a snack mid morning then we won’t eat 300 calories less at lunch.

You need to be careful when it comes to snacking. Most snacks are carbohydrate and/or sugar based. AVOID these snacks at all costs. They will balloon your calories and carbohydrate intake, pulling you right out of the fat burning zone. Instead focus on eating protein and fiber rich snacks. This one behavior change will make a huge different in your journey to lose more weight.

In regards to “All You Can Eat” Dining, this is just a bad idea. Control your environment. We are very sensitive to visual cues such as plate size, amount of food, glass size/style, etc. “All You Can Eat” Dining is setting yourself up for dieting failure - avoid it at all costs so you can control your calorie intake with ease.

Stress, Exercise, and Support - Another famous study, the Lifestyle Heart Trial, reveals to us 3 crucial behavior changes that we must make for permanent and fast weight loss. Between 1977-1980, a group of people were put on the ornish Diet as part of the Lifestyle Heart Trial. The ornish Diet is a vegetarian diet that is very low in fat (less than 10% of calories from fat). Because of the severe fat restriction many find this diet hard to adhere to for the long term. However, during the Lifestyle Heart Trial the participants experienced phenomenal results such as regression of heart attack causing plaques in their arteries. Ever since this original study, similar results using the ornish Diet have never been replicated.

Why?

Because the people in the study were implementing more than just a diet; they also did regular exercise (3 hours per week), meditation and relaxation (1 hour per day), and participated in 2 group support sessions each week. The addition of the other factors made the diet so much more effective.

Most people are probably already adding exercise to their weight loss plan but many miss regular stress management and developing a strong support system. These are make or break pieces to your fat loss puzzle. Adding exercise, stress management techniques, and finding a support system will greatly enhance your weight loss results.

If you are having trouble losing weight or if you have hit a weight loss plateau examine your current fat loss efforts. Do you actively manage the stress in your life? Do you have a support team? What kinds of foods are you snacking on? Do you control the portions you eat by avoiding “All You Can Eat” events?

Honestly answer these questions. Find the holes in your plan. Change them and get your fat loss back on track.

Using Psychology to Successfully Loose Weight

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 10:20 am

By Jon Kelly

For the majority of people dieting, loosing weight is difficult and it can easily become all consuming and take over every aspect of their life. So, with all this effort being concentrated on the task in hand, why are these people still failing to loose their excess weight and to achieve their target weight? A lot of success is about the mental state behind the actions, the actions alone are no guarantee of success.

Whenever a new diet gets a bit of publicity, there will always be people who are quoted in the papers who tell us that they have tried all other diets and this is the only one which worked long term. If, however, there really was a diet which was guaranteed to work, then there would be no obesity in the first world. We could simply put all over weight people on the same regime and before you know it half the world health problems would be solved. This doesn’t happen, because there is no such thing as a guaranteed weight loss regime.

Does everyone need their own personalized diet, or can the fad diet actually work? Success is not always about the actual diet, it is about how the dieter approaches the diet and the changes which they are expected to make in their lives. Let’s look at a couple of scenarios. Firstly, consider a working mother with a couple of kids who would like to loose weight; perhaps weight gained during pregnancy and not lost during breastfeeding. This character is likely to have a strict regime which is controlled by her job and family and hence change can be incorporated, but only if it fits within the overall structure of her life. Take a second scenario of a recently qualified student, in their first job and moving into their first independent home. This person has thrown their whole life up in the air and they are starting a new project. Change for them is what life is about at the moment. They could take on any diet on the market and incorporate it into their routine; they could even build their routine around it. These are two people whose differing physical situations control their mental approach to a diet.

This does not mean that you cannot succeed if you are not prepared to change your life, but it does mean that you need to set targets and goals with are relevant to your life not try to force the targets suggested by the publicists of the diet onto your life.

Set your own goals and know that they are achievable. This simple step will remove the most prevalent excuse of failed dieters that they just could not manage to stick to the diet. If you don’t stick to you diet you are not committed and you can never be committed if you feel that the diet is in control and not you. Long term change cannot be controlled by a book or even a support group. Staying positive and staying in control will give you the psychological edge to succeed.

Weight Loss Products That Work From Alli

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 10:20 am

By Chris Kennelly

The weight loss programs also feature quite regularly on many advertising websites, magazines as well as paid search advertising; hence we are bombarded with a large amount of information pertaining to possible weight programs.

Essentially when one looks at the Alli range of products and how they work, the basic principle involves the ingredients of the specific Alli product works on the enzymes that specifically break down fat, whilst not affecting other enzymes that work on the carbohydrates and proteins. Thus the enzymes that normally break down the fat are affected, allowing the fat to pass through the body in a natural fashion and not absorbed into the body. The normal fat absorption into the body occurs when these enzymes break the consumed fat up. The important aspect here in looking at weight loss products from Alli is that they effectively allow the absorption of the nutrients provided by the carbohydrates and proteins.

Weight loss products from Alli, when used according to the published directions, do not work on or attack the heart and nervous system or the brain, but rather going to work on the digestive system; this in turn alleviates the side effects, as experienced by other products, of nervous or jittery behavior, racing heart beat and so on.

The main innovation behind the weight loss products from Alli work on the premise that the fat that is absorbed into the body, after consuming a meal, is high or more dense in calories than the carbohydrates and protein and therefore by reducing the fat intake will naturally reduce the calorie intake. This is not accomplished by taking fat out of the diet completely but rather by following a balanced diet. Hence one does not engage upon a deprivation diet, where the cravings can be the downfall of you dieting plan. It is also recommended by dieticians that a certain percentage of fat is healthy because of the fact that it aids the absorption of vitamins into the body.

In a dieting program it is well published that the calorie intake must be reduced or the calorie burning efforts must be increased, which is normally by engaging in an exercise program. With the weight loss products from Alli the calorie intake is reduced, but not be reduced intake, but rather by affecting the enzymes that break the fat down. This does not mean that one should dive into the nearest fast food joint, or high fat content food, but rather an approach of balance is recommended. And of course an exercise program is well worth considering.

Weight loss products from Alli can help one in striving for that ideal weight, coupled with a good eating plan and a regular exercise regime will surely have a great affect on ones efforts of shedding those pounds. Be sure to consult a professional in terms of exercise and dieting plans when considering weight loss and exercise options.

Countless weight loss programs exist that promise the world. The Alli Product range provides a scientific approach to Weight Loss, available at Alli Weight Loss Aid orlistat 60mg Capsules.

Why Lowering Calories is not the Best Way to Cure Obesity

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 3:32 pm

By Dan Pluck

Many people feel that they are naturally overweight and others enjoy being naturally skinny while eating much more food than them. The misconception is that size is just about genes or how much someone is eating (calories). When looked at closely, it is not the calorie consumption (or genes) that is the deciding factor in whether someone is overweight or thin. This is because there are three main types of calories that people eat every day: carbohydrates, protein and fat.

The human body doesn’t calculate how many total calories are consumed. More, the body works out the amount of each of the types of calories are eaten. For example, many unwitting people eat fat free foods which are high in sugar. If they eat too many carbohydrates of this type then the body can’t completely use all of this type of calorie and will store the extra as fat. Even if people don’t eat many total calories each day, they can still get fat if they eat too much of a certain calorie at the wrong time of day. This is exactly why many people struggle with obesity and stay overweight while eating less than smaller members of their family and friends.

The good news is that there is another way. While some people may actually have a genetically slow metabolism and be overweight, they can can be skinnier than their peers. All they have to do is eat the correct amount of each type of calorie at the right time each day. While the body needs all three kinds of calories, it needs them in different amounts at each meal of the day.

Amazingly, some kinds of fat calories actually cause weight loss. Then there are certain kinds of food labeled fat free that will cause someone to become fat if they eat too much of them. It is this misconception that makes losing fat so hard for people. This is why there is an obesity epidemic which is becoming more severe. This is no surprise when the answer is the opposite to what most people expect and are taught: That eating fat is fattening and fat free is slimming.

The truth is quite different to what many think: Fat doesn’t necessarily become fat in the body. Also, fat free foods don’t often make people loose weight. This may be quite a paradigm shift but in order for something to change, it must first change in the mind. Only an open mind can receive something different to learn a new and better way to loose weight.

For someone to loose weight fast, they must know which foods keep the blood sugar level consistent over time. This will burn fat fast because, on the contrary, foods which cause a sharp increase in blood sugars will make people have a lot more energy for a bit of time. However, after this spike, blood sugars will drop way down leaving people feeling weary and tired thereafter. -The higher the spike (after any meal), the bigger the drop afterwards. When someone feels weary, they feel hungry and want to eat again. Obese people usually have ups and downs like this.

Imagine burning fat by eating the right types of food as well as having a constant amount of energy; plenty of it. Dieting doesn’t have to make people feel weary and worn out. Like a perpetual motion machine, the body can keep burning more and more fat off. People don’t have to go without all the foods they like either. They just eat them at the right times and amounts.

To learn which fat burning foods you need to eat to begin losing weight, we recommend using the new online diet right here: http://fatloss4idiots.pinnacleofhealth.com/ezine

Breaking News -Calorie Cutting Not Including Counting

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 10:20 am

By Garen Arnold

Calorie cutting is a very effective method of losing weight, but many people do not have the time to worry about counting every little thing that crosses their lips. It becomes especially difficult for people who eat out a lot, especially if they frequent restaurants that do not readily offer nutritional information on their foods. Many people write calorie cutting off because they do not realize that it can be done without counting every single thing you eat.

What makes calorie cutting effective is not the writing down part, but the reduction of total calories consumed so you create a deficit between the number of calories eaten and the number burned off through daily activity and exercise. To do this without a food journal or constantly keeping a pen and paper on hand, you need to trim your portion sizes and change at least ninety percent of your food choices.

Trimming your portion sizes is a method of calorie cutting because it automatically reduces the total calories consumed during your day. One method is to eat off smaller plates. This creates the illusion that you are still eating a larger portion because you do not have to look at a half empty plate. Most people already eat in extremely large portions anyway, so calorie cutting is simply a matter of scaling back to a more moderate portion.

For example, if you normally eat a lot of a frozen pizza for lunch, consider taking that down to one or two slices and adding in a salad or some fresh fruit. If you normally eat four eggs and three slices of toast for breakfast, scale it back to two eggs and one slice of whole wheat toast. This may not be the exact calorie measuring that many people enforce on themselves, but it is a method of calorie cutting that works for many people who know counting every little thing is not realistic for them long term.

You also need to start making better choices about what you fill your plate up with. Start making these decisions based on what nutrients each food offers your body, instead of how it tastes or how it will make you feel. Go for whole wheat pasta and bread over white refined versions. Load up with vegetables and fruits because they will make you feel fuller for much lower calories than other foods. Lean protein sources such as chicken, white meat turkey, and lean cuts of beef should be included daily. Beans and legumes are also a great addition to the diet, just watch that they are not cooked in a load of lard.

You do not have to totally deprive yourself of the treats you enjoy most, and if you try to do so you are likely setting yourself up for disappointment in the long run. Aim for the majority of your meals and snacks to be wholesome, but allow for the occasional treat when you feel you need it. A great idea is to consider birthday parties or other social events that do not come around as often to be the occasion for a treat.

There are lots of distractions to take advantage of at a social gathering that can help you stick to just one small treat without going overboard. For example, at a childs birthday party bring a camera so you can take pictures of the little ones while everyone else goes back for seconds of the cake.

Calorie cutting is most effective when combined with a regular exercise program, and it is even more important if you are not keep strict counts of everything you eat. Exercise will burn off any excess calories you may consume some days, and it becomes even more important on the days you allow a treat.

Calories are the most important piece to puzzle when trying to losing weight. You can learn more about calories needed to lose weight here.

The Food Pyramid and Losing Weight

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 4:20 pm

By Dan Pluck

Nearly everyone is aware of the the ‘Food Pyramid’. Because it is government created, it is taught in most schools. It is a guide for eating healthy every day, designed as a very general nutritional guideline for everyone. Because it is so well known, many people try to use it to lose fat. The purpose of this article is to discuss whether this is a good idea.

Even though The Agricultural Department has just redone the Food Pyramid, it is still deficient for those wanting to control their weight. This is partly because it was not designed for fat loss, just as a generalized nutritional guideline to keep in constant health. It’s essence is balance and nutritional needs not fat loss and diets. This is one reason why isn’t a good option for those wanting to loose fat and get thin fast.

To be safe, as per usual, The Agricultural Department has made the pyramid as nonspecific as possible. This is the best you get in bureaucracy. While it does have food quantity guides for what someone should eat based on their age, weight and gender, it is for staying healthy; not to loose weight. Reducing the amounts to loose weight is guesswork and not the intention of the publication and is risky. It is worth pointing out the calculation of the required food consumption is difficult, tedious and impracticable.

Because of the potential danger and different intention, anyone seeking to reduce fat fast obviously shouldn’t use the new Food Pyramid. Results can not be achieved quickly or safely. Once someone has achieved their desired weight then, sure, they may like to look at the pyramid as a tool to stay healthy. It is also a good indication of the right balance of certain foods in your diet. But first people have to get to that point and it is not the best way so lets look into what is.

First, people need something that will automatically generate a meal plan to allow them to loose fat fast. It must be simple to use and minimize effort. Even better is to have a menu generated to simply go through each day. Nobody in their right mind wants to keep having to look at food labels and work out calories. People have more important things to do and that sort of effort and time commitment doesn’t fit into their lifestyle and time schedule.

There is a program that provides all the good ways mentioned and more. It helps thousands of people lose weight every week. It is probably the favorite of all on-line diet programs (if not off-line as well). Not only does it help people lose the extra fat but also to keep it off. It is both natural and scientifically proven. It is the secret to trick the body into turning into a fat burning machine. Best of all, there is no limitation on portion sizes at each meal so no working things out making it idiot proof.

Most people have tried many different programs and have had very limited success. Therefore, they need something different, revolutionary even, to get the results they want. Well, the program mentioned is based on a new type of eating that hasn’t been around before. Although, it makes perfect sense once it’s understood how the body works out what to burn and what to store is: It’s about the type of calories and the time it is consumed. It is the wonder of many and the solution for all those seeking to shed pounds healthily. It is the single and only best way as many will discover.

Weight Loss Success/Failure in Low Carbohydrates

Filed under: Dieting, Fitness, Weight Loss — admin @ 7:31 pm

By Dan Pluck

Many people have heard of low carbohydrate eating plans. This is because they are recent popular fad diets. The idea of low carbohydrate eating plans is that carbohydrates contain energy, in the most accessible form for our bodies. Therefore, as the idea goes, if you reduce the amount of this energy by reducing carbohydrates, the body will turn to burning stored fat for energy. This is a process known as ketosis where a type of energy, ketone bodies, are created from fat and protein (muscle) in the body. The purpose of this article is to answer the question if low carbohydrate diets work, why/why not and if not, what the solution is.

It can be argued, a resounding ‘no’, they don’t work. This is because low carbohydrate diets have major flaws that make losing fat extremely difficult for pretty much everyone. Below it will be shown why they often don’t work, with examples, as well as what does work. It is not the intention to discredit any particular program, just to simply explain why they are not as enjoyable to follow as they could be.

If we take a popular low carbohydrate program as an example such as the Atkins diet, the restriction of carbohydrates in the first few weeks is extreme by just about anyones standards. The diet allows only 20 gs of net carbohydrates. This minuscule amount of carbohydrates is usually much too extreme for most people to handle for 2 weeks in a row. They often feel weak and miserable for the duration. This is because the human body needs more carbohydrates than allowed to function properly and have enough energy.

Not all low carbohydrate diets are as restrictive as the Atkins diet. However, other low carbohydrate diets, such as South Beach, may not be quite as extreme as the Atkins diet but are not easy to follow either. This is because of the way it makes people feel during the process.

In order for an eating plan to be successful, it must be easy to follow. This is the only way that people will stick it out and succeed in losing the fat they want. It must not make people feel weak and miserable because that just makes it hard for them to stick to it.

The reason why minimizing carbohydrates in the diet to cause ketosis makes people fell lethargic is that it is a slower process (like hitting the wall in long-distance running). Also, not all cells in the body can use ketones for energy. Within the medical and nutritional science communities, ketosis is generally regarded as a dangerous and potentially life-threatening state. This is because it stresses the liver (causing damage to it) and causes destruction of muscle tissue (which, as a side note, helps burn carbohydrates up). Ketosis has also been found to cause heart disease and other health issues.

Low carbohydrates diets aren’t the answer to losing fat because the human body needs the right amount of all the three types of calories to lose weight consistently. These are fat, protein and carbohydrates. The body is like a vehicle; it needs all the right amount of ingredients at the right time to work. A vehicle needs water, oil and fuel in order to go fast. For fast and lasting fat loss, all three kinds of calories of the correct amounts must be eaten at the right time each day. This is where most people dieting fail; because hardly anyone knows what the right amounts and times of calories are.

What people need to loose fat is a program that provides the right amounts and times and helps them follow it. Even better, an idiot-proof diet with no set portion limits at any meal.

To begin losing weight fast, in the right way, we recommend using the only of it’s kind, Fatloss4Idiots at: http://fatloss4idiots.pinnacleofhealth.com/ezine
